Life's game of chance
Where has the year gone? Here it is August and most of us are
still in the planning stages expecting the year to turn into a
perceived profit.
This week's ezine issue is chock full of good tips and insights
into getting those steps needed in order. The last two weeks,
the Sunday Conference has helped declare the need for the right
mindset and goals. Without them all is lost or the results end
up full of holes and lost potential income.
Pat Downing's article on the Penguin fantasy carries great
weight in organizing for change. Roger Rothove and Mr. Nev R
Kwit are on track with invested training- a must for forward
motion.
Wayne Owens takes a look at the power of funnelling, and the
conference schedule sets up the necessary classes for you to
take full advantage of the 3-step Simple Strategy that has
members in a real buzz.
So what are you doing to improve your marketing position? Are
you busy assessing where you are, preparing to make necessary
changes to get to where you want to be?
While budgets can be a negative constraint, becoming a member of

I have been reading different books, (which I
get from the library) not being satisfied with reading one at a
time. This book I am about to talk about is a fable but is a very
thought provoking story about a colony of penguins in the
Antarctica.
{Our Iceberg Is Melting: Changing and Succeeding Under Any
Conditions
by John Kotter, Holger Rathgeber, Peter Mueller (Illustrator) }
The penguins all worked together to keep their colony alive. One
though was particularly curious and observant. While the
other penguins did the normal every day
chores Fred would get on a high spot and
watch the sea and the iceberg and take notes.
With all his observations he was alarmed to discover that his and
the colony's iceberg was melting. He knew he had to tell the
rest of the penguins but he felt that he was a nobody and he would
just be laughed at. One other time another
penguin had tried to warn the colony about a problem and he was made
fun of and then treated differently and even shunned. So Fred asked
himself, "What do I do now?"
The colony had a Leadership Council and he decided Alice, one of
the councillors was the most approachable. She didn't really
take it seriously until Fred took her under the iceberg to show her.
There were caves in the ice and cracks which when the
caves filled with water and when winter
came, the water would freeze. As most know, when water freezes it
expands and when it freezes in the cracks then the cracks get
bigger. Soon the iceberg was going to break apart.
Alice was alarmed and went to the Leadership Council, but they
wouldn't listen. Some were slightly concerned but most pooh-poohed
them. Fred decided the only way they would maybe
pay attention was if he made a model and that is what he did.
The Council finally started to get concerned and then had a
meeting to see how they could persuade the rest to do
something.
It was a tough job because there were naysayers and those who
feel if they don't think about it nothing will happen, and
also the indecisive. So here is how the
council went about persuading the majority
of the colony:
The Role of Thinking and Feeling
Thinking differently can help change behaviour and lead to better
results.
- Collect data, analyze it.
- Present the information logically to change people's thinking.
- Changed thinking in turn, can change behaviour.
Feeling differently can change behaviour MORE and lead to even
better results.
- Create surprising, compelling and if possible ; visual
experiences.
- The experiences change how people feel about a situation.
The solution for the colony was to leave their iceberg, which was
an unheard of action for penguins. So the Council had to
gradually change a lifetime of thinking.
Here is their way of doing just that:
The Eight Step Process of Successful Change.
1. Create a SENSE OF URGENCY.
- Help others see the need for change and the importance of
acting immediately.
2. Pull together the Guiding Team.
- Make sure there is a powerful group guiding the change,
one with leadership skills , credibility, communications
ability, authority, analytical skills and a sense of urgency!
Decide What to Do
3. Develop the Change, Vision and Strategy.
- Clarify how the future will be different from the past and how
you can make that future a reality.
Make It Happen
4. Communicate for Understanding and Buy In.
- Make sure as many others as possible understand and accept
the vision and the strategy.
5. Empower Others to Act
- Remove as many barriers as possible so that those who want to
make the vision a reality can do so.
6. Produce Short Term Wins
- Create some visible, unambiguous (very clear) successes
as soon as possible.
7. Don't Let Up
- Press Harder and Faster after the first successes.
-Be relentless with initiating change after change until the vision
is a reality.
Make It Stick
8. Create A New Culture
- Hold on to the new ways of behaving, and make sure they
succeed, until they become strong enough to replace old
traditions.

The Missing Mr. Nev R Kwit Returns.

I have been missing in action. Ms. Tuffaz Nails gave me an
assignment to explore a program I have been involved
with. I have spent the last few weeks participating in a
marketing apprentice program learning some skills which will assist me
in becoming a better marketer and trainer. Mr. Nev R Kwit still has 9

Though never being properly represented the proper
way (in this writer's opinion) to acquire
leads for any business is a process referred to as "funnelling
leads". The largest inherent misconception is that you must have the
right program! However, it is necessary to
select the best tools to capture leads which include but are not
limited to Traffic Exchanges and Traffic Programs. Today the subject
is Traffic Exchanges. Traffic Exchanges are useless to promote most
programs.
Therefore, it is imperative to use them as one of
the tools in your funnelling system to capture leads which must be
communicated with regularly and kept informed of the latest
marketing techniques as well as "WIIFM"(what's in it for ME). Most
Marketers do not realize that leads are what is in it for them.
As a result of that, they must be given gifts,
prizes, or other rewards while attempting to train them that they
must capture leads while funnelling them into YOUR list. Other tools
are used in this process are classified ads, blogs, forums, Search
Engine Optimization, and other various types of list gathering
tools.

About Firefox version 3.5
Thanks to the combined efforts of
Wayne Owens, George Culp and yours truly researching the facts to
make this resource a little easier on your frustration factor.
BEFORE you install
FF ver. 3.5 be sure you
FIRST save your
bookmarks as this version tends to omit
bookmarks of its own
choosing. If you are really savvy with your computer it does save
them as a bookmarks.bak file in your profile in applications
folder under firefox and can be selected to "open with" firefox.
For those Vista users wishing to upgrade
to FF 3.5, path to profile
is: user\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\FireFox\Profiles
1 show only 1 profile - weird name.default
Of course, it is always best to backup your bookmarks. There is a
folder inside default profile called bookmarkbackups - extension
is .json; example bookmarks-2009-07-25.json
Users of xp or xp pro go to C:/documentsand
settings/user/applicationsdata/mozilla/firefox/profiles to find
your registered UID which is normally a combination of
characters and numbers aka weirdname.default
Now where you choose to set up your folder for firefox backups is
up to you. It can be in your profiles folder or in My Documents
or in a dozen other places. Just make sure you do backups often
and store them by dates in the same folder each time. Then if
you have to restore your favourites, it becomes an easy job.
