 Costly Web Site Errors

Creativity is a wonderful experience. It is also a hard teacher when it comes to attracting or driving potential conversions to your competition.

Easy On The Eyes - better be the very first choice you take a hard look at.

Proven No-Nos

White text on a black background. Tests have proven over and over again, that black and white combinations of this type are hard on the eyes. Copy is easiest to read when it is in black text on a white background. Statistics show there are a total of 42% and growing, sight impaired viewers as well as experienced marketers who turn off graphics, so white text becomes a real income potential loss. How can you read white text on white?
 
Are you dyslexic or know someone who is? Have them look at your site.

The other major no-no is the limit of color range on a black background.  Color ideas such as red and blue in navigation, point out a serious lack of consideration for viewer eyes.

Present the obstacle and they move on. Sure all that black on white can
appear boring. However, your site is not there to please your preferred
tastes, but rather the ease of use by your prospects. Black text on a white background is classic and search engines love your ability to stick to accessibility options that meet the standards.

The Eye Exercise That Makes You The Loser

There is a major reason most sites use three column layouts. Can you
imagine how fast you turn your viewer off when they are doing neck
exercises to scan your copy? If they have to scroll back and forth to read it - you lose big time.

It only takes ONE eye working at 50% capacity to tell the viewer this page is not for them.

Keep your main copy to no more than 600 pixels wide. There goes the
argument for using page percentage. But if your copy has value content
that you want a reader to internalize and take action on, then make it easy for them to do so. Who cares how important your message is if a viewer has to literally break their neck to read it?

Heat maps teach you two lessons. How humans read - they scan down the page, and the limits on scanning left to right before eye strain sets in.

How Simple is Your Navigation?

The more steps a viewer has to take to get to what they want to view, the
better the chances you lose them. Cut down the options as even two clicks can cause the loss of one third of your viewers.

Just as an index page tells your viewer what your site is all about. STOP
cluttering it or back pages with extraneous information. The Four P's -
Product, Price, Packaging and Promotion will help you define the layout of your site for ease of use and engaging your prospect.

Depending on the product or products offered, you can combine the
Product and Price to create easy decisions on choices offered. However, if you have many Price variations then allow a page for Price that explains Product offers in more detail.

Spoiling Page Content Value

Whatever your Index or HOME page tells the viewer your main product is all about, then any extras you may offer should not appear with it. Create special offer pages 'behind' that page, or OTO - One Time Offers if scarcity or special prices are available. Too much information or variables create confusion, become a distraction which gives your viewer the perfect excuse NOT to take ACTION.

Does your headline explain what your site is about in that problematic
emotional statement?

Does your sub-header state the key benefit of doing business with you?

Does your copy lead your reader to your call to action, and formed in such a way as to engage them in the necessity of having your product?

There is more. There is always more. But here you have some of the major reasons a site does not convert. Should you find your site problems amongst these errors, then there is no time like the present to fix them.

  Staying on top of your business can mean the difference between success and failure. Failing is okay IF you learn something from it, or you take the road least travelled - hurry up and fail so you can redo it all. For the rest of us, there is the Net News.

Adverts like this one bug me.

"What’s the problem with most of the programs? Why we can't earn money with them?

1. They are relatively expensive and we can't afford or don't want to risk that money.

2. We can't refer people so our down line will not grow, we will not get paid. "

Misleading crapola is the guaranteed start to a short online career. Pulling a new marketer into the fray of mythical fears is not good marketing.

1. Programs worth your time are never too expensive. You do your homework on them, check their TOS and FAQ then decide is there really a risk here that would stop you from gaining momentum in your online choices?

2. Down line, shmownline - you are my marketing associate. Together we learn the power of list building. Sure your actions build the company. They better or there goes your commissions. However, that does not mean you cannot leverage the beauty of any good program by filling your funnel and building that personal contact list. That is where the real dollars are.

When these two actions work in tandem, your only risk is paying the first month. After that, with a few good advertising strategies, you should be happily promoting a profitable income stream.

Bedside Manners
 
 Susie's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months. Things looked grim, but she was by his bedside every single day.
