The home business popularity concept has been a way for
stay-at-home moms then dads, to create much needed income.

I was a stay-at-home mom who raised her children until school age, then when back to the work force. It was no easy transition. You're older, there are thousands of freshly educated kids coming into the job fields that become the job contenders while you are six or seven years behind in marketing trends and needs.

Even if you take continuing education courses, business owners kind of look at you like you have three heads. They'll have to argue more with you over wages and benefits while these low entry college graduates are just hungry enough to take the first offer. If they are men, then you lose ladies, because you still have family commitments to possibly sick kids. It really can be a man's world.

The Internet has changed that picture for moms to some degree, allowing women to stay home, be there for the little ones and yet still find time to run or develop a good paying business.

Men began to see this as a rich opportunity to invade. They could be the stay-at-home dads and build a good Internet business, thereby forsaking the angst of dealing with over-bearing and demanding bosses all for a peanut wage packet.

For women, it became a journey out of the Victorian age, through the Freudian slip creating a chance to be recognized for their efforts. Did it happen? Probably more like, "That's nice, making any money?" to "Maybe it would be better if you got a 'real' job."

For men, the bias towards working women lifted men to the next level, curiously, as special men, ready to trade the world of commerce for raising their children. Stay-at-home-dads were praised and followed.

The leveller for both women and men, is the ability to choose a top home-based business opportunity. Not many, even today, know how to do that with any real form of recognized success.

Quite often you will hear it said that it is the 'fit' that provides the good business opportunity choice. Knowing who you are, what you are passionate about means you will have a deeper desire to succeed thus will provide yourself the one must have which is commitment to what you choose to do.

This specialized confidence translates into being able to ask the hard questions such as ...

• Who owns the company?

• Proud to introduce them to family and friends?

• What is their product or service?

• What is the company vision for this product or
  service?

• Do you use it?

• Can you honestly back their guarantee for
  satisfaction?

• What is the product lifespan - consumable or
  reusable?

• What about training and support - is it
  duplicatable?

Here is where most people fail in their choice of home-based business. They are not ready to follow the structure, learn all they can, and become the super salesperson. Life biases get in the way from having to do it their way to one upmanship that tells them they must be better than the next business person doing the same job.

The success ratio of any online home-based business, is understanding you must become a good follower of a good mentor offering you a great opportunity in a top notch business choice if you are ever to be a good leader. That is the real power of duplication and it readily separates the wannabe from the serious marketer determined to be a winner.

Bottom line? To get what we've never had, we must strive to do what we have never done.
