Murphy's Law
When something goes wrong, it goes wrong big time!
Who the heck every heard of one little error being the
catch-all for preventing the next one? We should be so
lucky.
I noticed my puter was not being my best pal during the
last week or so. Thus it struck me, time to do a wipe and
reload. I got lazy Christmas past and did not do it.
Payback for lazy maintenance is not a nice happening.
Nor is having the hard drives in your tower in reverse
order a cool happening either.
Suffice it to say, my back up drive got wiped and totally
reloaded before we found the mighty hiccupping C drive
was still burping strong.
Housecleaning might just prove to be a good move
though. However, that thought was not arrived at before
eating my way through half a bottle of
Gaviscon to keep
the acid reflux in check, retaping my mouth to prevent
the surly invectives that kept wanting to pop out, and a
little brainstorming with my better half.
Mistakes do happen. The world that appeared to be
coming to an end, is back on its axis, and my better half
is still alive and kicking.
It's Murphy I am worried about. I gave him a good swift
kick but goodness knows whose doorstep he will land on
next. Hopefully it isn't yours. Keep those maintenance
schedules up to date and he might just pass you by.

If you stand on a mountain top and yell for
the whole world to hear you, "Read me please?" As the
echo bounces off city walls and computer screens, do you think they
will read your mails?
If you dress in a monk's robes shave your skull, walk the streets
with your head bowed whispering your mantra , "Read me please,
why won't you read me?" Other than the possibility, someone
might drop a wooden nickel in your cowl, do you think they will read
your mails?
Along with variables such as having a strong, compelling subject
line, totally irresistible to your reader, there may be another
reason they do not read.
You are sending out your mail on the wrong day.
A little research shows that sending and receiving mail on
Wednesdays tends to create the greatest open and read results. Even
more important sends read on those days tend to create LESS
unsubscribes. Then again, they just might not trust you enough to
unsubscribe.
Now that reason might be they simply delete your send but hey, if
the statistics are showing the actionable part seems to increase,
then may be we need to do a rethink on our lazy day, gotta get it
done sends?
Maybe. Perhaps what you need to do is start paying attention to the
days your mail flows into your mail
accounts. AND of course, your reaction to it.
Keep in mind that more is NOT better. If say Tuesdays
through Thursdays flood your accounts leaving
you a bit flustered, then why add to the
traffic jam?
Flexibility remains essential. Depending on your content and the
relationship you have with your recipients, certain days may please
them more. The open rates and responses will be a best guide.
Here's a thought. Along with short shrift auto-responder sends, and
inconsistent mailings, why not ask your inactives to renew their
membership? You will soon find out if you have been a good sponsor
or if they find lackadaisical attitudes created a loss of interest.

But will you have taken advantage of
it the right way?
Email marketing will not remain free forever. That is what is probably
bugging users the most. They speak in terms of email marketing dying,
which is the furthest point from truth that you can get to.
It is the smart marketer who spends their time, right "NOW" building
strong opt in mailing lists who will survive the continual changes in
email marketing AND be the very people who will make the rules as to its
use.
These are the marketers who will have almost guaranteed their business
longevity.
Email marketing is part art, part science and a lot of testing. If your
plans are to make a full time income, then your own targeted Opt in email
lists are the single most valuable assets you will ever own.
Every super affiliate has their ever growing list of targeted optins
ready to hand them cash with every mail send. That's the secret to
continuous and large online profits.

offer, and that includes other people's products, in order to
continually build your targeted opt in lists.
With patience and perseverance, your time will come as those

art of relationship building through email marketing.
In time, with forethought and planning, your house lists will teach you
that's where the smart money says profits will continue to grow.

Follow the Leader ...
1. Write in layman's terms so that everybody
can understand
your content. One of the worst offences is the use of words
common to you but foreign to your reader. Terminology
not understood is a turn off.
2. The argument for short copy. Reading from a screen is
painful. Use 50% less words than you would use on print. If
your article needs to be fairly long, break it into two pages or
create a PDF from the material. Can you think of a better way
to create viral list building then your own first product you
can give away?
3. The argument between pixels and percentage becomes
appreciative when you specify your fonts in percentage terms
instead of pixels. It allows your reader to set their own size
preferences using their browser text view options.
4. Use a spell checker. Spelling mistakes are embarrassing
and hurt credibility.
5. Hot real estate. Put it to good use. Ask for feedback.
